History
Alpine Adventures began catering to New Hampshire winter outdoor enthusiasts in 1997, when Randy and Kerry Farwell rented the old Pig's Ear convenience store building on Main Street, Lincoln, New Hampshire, and bought a small fleet of snowmobiles. They saw a need for an alternate activity for the visitors to the nearby ski areas, and snowmobile tours filled that void. Alpine Adventures was the first in New Hampshire to hold a special use permit from the US Forest Service to conduct guided tours by snowmobile and is one of a few permit holders in the state.
In 2004 Alpine Adventures researched and chose to use the 6-wheel drive Pinzgauer for their driveability and small footprint to create a year-round off road adventure tour in the White Mountains. The off-road Safari tours were conducted with Alpine Adventure's usual commitment to the highest level of customer service, safety and entertainment. The unique tours set them apart from other attractions while creating a new level of recreational experience.
Going on 8 years in business in 2005, with a growing staff that had endless energy and enthusiasm for their job, Randy Farwell was looking for the next thing. He found it when their Director of Operations, Allan Guilbeault, took a vacation to Hawaii. There was a 3 month wait to get on a zipline canopy tour in Maui. After a few research and development outings around the country, Alpine Adventures began building the first zipline canopy tour on the east coast. This tour was featured on Weather Ventures on the Weather Channel, Chronicle, Boston TV news outlets and numerous newspapers from Pennsylvania to northern New Hampshire.
On July 4th, 2008 Alpine Adventures launched the Sky Rider canopy tour. This was the longest, highest & fastest Zipline tour in the east at the time, but 3 years later in 2011, the Super SkyRider Tour was built - adding several faster & higher ziplines along with some climbing elements to the SkyRider Tour and creating another tour option for even the most demanding adrenaline junkies. This was also combined with the construction of the "Thrillsville" Aerial Adventure park which combines climbing challenges, rope bridges, swings and several unique attractions including the Powerfan Free-fall Device & BigAirBag Stuntzone, new for 2012. This constant & continued evolution is a product of Farwell's limitless vision and Yankee can-do attitude.
The Farwell's are also co-owners of Jamaica Zipline Adventure Tours outside of Montego Bay Jamaica, New York Zipline Adventures at Hunter Mountain, and Canopy Tours, Inc., which offers canopy tour construction and consultation services to companies and individuals around the world.
